The fix from 2K is to enable stereo mix: If you have no sound and are using an onboard solution from Realtek then the following instructions may restore the sound:

Go to the Bioshock.ini file and change the following line: Change SpeakerMode to this: SpeakerMode=SM_5_1 And add the following line after that one. SpeakerModeValue=5.
